Man Found Dead in Water Tower in Cilandak, East Jakarta – Police Investigation Underway

Jakarta

A man named Agus (36) was found dead in a tower at a local resident’s house Cilandak, East Jakarta. Agus was found dead after not coming out for an hour after draining the water in the tower.

“He was called at around 09.00 WIB, then he cleaned the water tower on the 2nd floor. It turned out that after more than an hour he didn’t come down,” said Cilandak Police Chief Kompol Wahid Key when contacted, Saturday (27/1/2024).

The tower owner then asked his helper to check on Agus. However, when he checked, Agus’ body looked stiff in the tower.

“It turned out he was found to be stiff,” he said.

This case is still under police investigation. The owner of the house and a number of witnesses have been summoned for questioning.

“We are checking where the call came from. We are calling the house owner and witnesses to the police,” said Wahid.

Danru Rescue Cilandak Sector South Jakarta Fire Department (South Jakarta), Anton, said that his party had evacuated the bodies of victims who were in the water tower. The evacuation process took two hours.

“The location is at home, it’s on the 3rd floor, the tower is above the roof of the house. The process started at 12.30 WIB and finished at 14.00 WIB. It was clean in about 2 hours, so wait for the Inafis officers first,” said Anton.

Anton explained that initially the Fire Department was asked to evacuate the victims in the water tower. Before evacuating the body, the home owner coordinated with police officers and local officials.

Anton explained that the fire brigade officers were accompanied by the police during the evacuation. When evacuated, the victim was found dead.

“The victim has died, but it’s new, so he’s still not stiff, he’s still weak,” he said.
