The police were notified of the drowning accident in Valdres, Strondafjorden, at 15.46 on Saturday.
– There is a man in his 80s who has been in the lake and has been found by someone in the immediate area, says operations manager Haagen Løvseth in the Inland police district to NRK just before 6.30 pm.
All naudetatar were notified, and at approximately 16.00 they were present and started resuscitation.
– It was done what one could. Both by the emergency doctor, air ambulance doctor, ambulance personnel, and others, but after about an hour and a quarter, the person in question was declared dead, says Løvseth.
The police do not have information about what the deceased did before he was found in the lake, but state that the man was alone.
– There is no suspicion of anything other than a pure accident, says Løvseth.
Naudetatane is now finished in the city. The relatives are followed up by the local crisis team.
Police say the deceased should not be autopsied.
