Corona in Rottweil: meinerottweil.de makes school – Freiburg copies the campaign – Rottweil & surroundings

The city of Rottweil is under discussion regarding its actions related to corona vaccinations and walks. Now “Our Rottweil” gets company. The city of Freiburg was inspired and adopted the concept.

Rottweil – Als Platform that wants to provide information, network offers of help and give courage in times of the pandemic the website meinerottweil.de started in 2020, almost two years ago. As an action by the Rottweil city administration, which wants to offer people a digital home in times of Corona. The press release at the start stated that the sense of community, the great sense of togetherness and the awareness of others had always been one of the strengths. That could make the difference in how the city and its citizens, companies, trade and clubs survive the crisis.

Critical voices

Then, in January, came the campaign “Our Rottweil: Solidarity – Peaceful – Reasonable!” added. Under this motto, Mayor Ralf Broß calls for a signature campaign – as a statement for vaccinations and against the Corona walks. On the one hand, while the number of supporters skyrocketed, there were also critical voices – even from the ranks of city councilors – and opposition.

Other municipalities are taking notice

Nevertheless: The Rottweil city administration is currently not alone in having to deal with such issues. And there are other municipalities that are aware of the Rottweiler example, orient themselves on it and adopt the ideas as their own.

“Reason, Responsibility and Solidarity”

There is since recently the website meinefreiburg.de, at which the university town from Breisgau proclaimed cohesion against Corona: with a “signature campaign for reason, responsibility and solidarity”. Freiburg had contacted the Rottweil town hall, expressed interest and also called for a signature campaign – as a “clear sign against division and for reason, responsibility and solidarity – across all individual differences, districts or generations”.

While more than 3,000 signatures have already been collected in Rottweil, Freiburg can now refer to more than 17,000 supporters. The Rottweiler model makes school.

As is now known from another request, a third municipality from Baden-Württemberg is already in the starting blocks.
