Man Charged with Murder of Woman in Øygarden: New Details Revealed by Police Attorney Eli Valheim

This is what police attorney Eli Valheim says to NRK.

The murder is said to have taken place on Sunday morning, before she was moved out into the car. Valheim says she will return to the exact time of the murder.

Witnesses reported the car fire at 08.45 on Sunday morning.

Valheim also says that the two children that the deceased and the accused have together were at home when the murder took place.

– The children have been interrogated. What they have explained, I cannot go into. They were in the apartment when the murder happened, she says.

Will not go into cause of death

It was the accused’s car that the woman was found in.

The man was arrested at the Ulvøysund bridge at 11.40 that morning, after witnesses had described the clothes and appearance of a man who had been observed at the scene of the fire.

Valheim will not say what cause of death the preliminary autopsy report points to. When asked about murder weapons, she says that the police have made several seizures.

– We have confiscated both the residence and the burned-out car. I will not go into how she was killed, as we do not have the final autopsy report yet, says Valheim.

On Wednesday, the police interviewed family members. The man has been questioned twice since his arrest, the last time on Tuesday.

– He has given an explanation, but I do not want to go into those details.

The police have also had a preliminary assessment of the man carried out, which means that they have assessed whether the man is criminally liable. Valheim will not say what it showed.

Violence alarm without power

The woman was issued a violence alert by the police on 8 June 2023.

The violence alarm has never been triggered, but gave up position data for the last time on 5 July, Valheim says.

– He has had a restraining order imposed on her, and she received a violence alarm. This was like a protection for her in the summer of 2023, says Valheim.
