Man (21) sentenced to 12 months of juvenile detention for car robbery and carjacking

A 21-year-old man has been sentenced to 12 months of juvenile detention, including 6 months on parole, for car-stealing and carjacking. It has also been proven that the man stole a sum of 4,000 from a shop where he worked.

The perpetrator robbed a car during a test drive in Amsterdam in early March. A day later, he was guilty of carjacking. The man met his victim via Marktplaats. The owner of the car was then forced to get out of his car under threat of a firearm. In April last year, the man took a cash sum of 4,000 euros from the store where he worked.

According to the judge, the man abused the trust of his employer and the victims who wanted to sell their car. In addition to juvenile detention, the convicted man must also pay damages of EUR 16,800.

The Probation Service recommended that adolescent criminal law be applied, because the 21-year-old man is open to support from social workers. The court has adopted this advice.
