Indonesia sends its first representative to the semifinals Malaysia Masters 2022. Following the win Rinov Rivaldy/Pitha Haningtyas Mentari over the Dutch mixed doubles.
Rinov/Mentari faced Robin Tebling/Selena Piek in the quarter-final match at Axiata Arena, Friday (8/7/2022) afternoon WIB. Rinov/Mentari won two straight games with a score of 21-14, 21-18.
Rinov/Mentari went through most of the match unimpeded, despite experiencing a thrilling moment when the opponent picked up nine straight points in the second game. In the next match, Rinov/Mentari will face the winner between third seed Yuta Watanabe/Arisa Higashino against Supak Jomkoh/Supissara Paewsampran.

Rinov/Mentari faced resistance from Tabeling/Piek. Although Rinov/Mentari had a two-point lead in the early game, Tabeling/Piek were able to catch up to equalize to 6-6.
After that Rinov/Mentari slowly opened the distance. Rinov’s shot was unable to be returned by the opponent so he was 11-6 ahead at the first interval.
Rinov/Mentari several times managed to outwit the opponent to add points. Tables let the ball fall on the sidelines so Rinov/Mentari won 16-8.
Tables/Piek can then reduce the gap, even though the distance from Rinov/Mentari is still wide. Piek’s serve failed to reach the Rinov/Mentari defense area to give the Indonesian pair victory in the first game with a score of 21-14.
Rinov/Mentar started the second game more convincingly after winning 4-0 over Tables/Piek. Rinov/Mentari continued to dominate the game to widen the gap to six points in the second interval at 11-5.
Rinov/Mentari are now 11 points ahead of Tabeling/Piek. The Dutch pair finally got the extra points after Rinov’s smash to the side of the field came out.
Match point for Rinov/Mentari after Piek’s service failed at 20-9. Tables/Piek are starting to get some wind after picking up nine straight points. The score is now 20-17.
Rinov/Mentari avoided the Tabing/Piek comeback and won the match 21-18 after Piek’s return hit the net.
