The second season of Alexander Golovin in Monaco ended, but did not end – French Prime Minister Edouard Philippe canceled all major events until September due to cove. But even quarantine and the failure of the Monegasques (ninth place) do not stop calling Golovin the leader of the team, the most progressive young player in League 1 and joining the team of the best football players of the championship. This is multiplied by the clear efforts of Monaco media managers to promote the Russian playmaker. It seems that Alexander himself is experiencing the famous policy of the prince’s club – to pump the youngster and sell it for a high price to the top club.
The first season of Golovin in France is a fail: problems with adaptation, two changes of coaches, injuries, disqualification for four matches for a direct red in the game with Lyon. The second year is fundamentally different. At first glance, Alex showed the same result as 12 months ago: three goals and four assists. But his role has completely changed. Now Golova is in third place in the team in matches played (25) and fourth in minutes on the field (2069). Alexander is the most aggravating footballer of Monaco (1.9 sharp passes per game). He is in the top three for successful strokes per match (1.6) among teammates. Before the move, the Russian midfielder was famous for his short pass, but in France he developed into the best Monaco player in long sharpening assists (5.1 per game). All this suggests that Golovin is a backbone man in the middle of the field. They try to stop him first of all, and more often than others they stop him with a foul (1.4 per match). Of course, Cristiano and Messi would have smiled at such a stat, but at the Monegasque level, Golovin is one of the best players in the team. And the PR service refers to it accordingly.

By April, Golovin’s progress was noted in the American publication The Score, calling him the most progressive player in League 1: “Golovin’s statistics are not great, but he often has a big impact on the game.”
When the championship ended ahead of schedule, Alexander got (or almost got) into several symbolic national teams of the season. According to beIN SPORTS and former footballer and coach Luis Fernandez, Golovin flew into the top 11 of League 1. FIFA 20 also introduced Alex into the symbolic team of the French championship. Only in the L’Equipe vote did Sasha fly, gaining only 6% of the vote. But he had serious rivals: only Mbappe (56%) and Payet (34%) took the lead.
The game and the status of Alexander forced Monaco to re-sign a contract with him, although the agreement expired only in 2023. The salary of the hawa was increased by half a million – up to three multits of euros per year. Increasing the importance of Golovin for the team and his regular flickering in the media suggest that the main points of the new agreement were not the fee and the expiration date, but the compensation and bonuses from the resale of Alexander in the future. This is a clear sign that Golovin is being prepared for transfer to the top club.
According to Sport24, PSG is already following the Russian with increased attention. Alex is not the main candidate for the purchase, but his game attracted the attention of the giants. And wherever there is PSG, everyone else is circling: scouts of top clubs always pay attention to the players who were noted by their competitors in the hope of hijacking a young star.

Now the situation is incomprehensible, but given that Monaco is rising, and he is the most progressive footballer there and is playing stably, he could go to the summer transfer window. I think that he is closer to the transition to PSG, and not Chelsea. In France, it’s easier to watch. PSG is so dominant in the French market that, if they want, they can make this transfer faster, ”Leonid Slutsky shared his opinion in the show Krasava.
Alexandra’s agent Oleg Artemov believes that in the future Monaco will earn up to 80 million euros in transfers. The former vice-president of the Monegasques, Vadim Vasiliev, also considers this amount adequate.
Over the past 10 years, Russian players have been steadily and often go abroad, but few people are able to at least gain a foothold in the roster. But what definitely didn’t work for any Russian was to bring the European club profit from resale. Golovin is not just a record transfer for a player with a Russian passport (30 million euros), but also the first who, after moving to the club from the Old World, will go up the stairs with a huge price tag, and will not return to Russia with an armful of tales about the life of European football players.
