It was teased last week, now officially announced: all three parts of the Mafia series receive revised versions and come as Definitive Editions for PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
When it came to reworking the three parts, 2K did not fail and Hangar 13, the developer of Mafia III, set the range. The result is new Definitive Editions for each of the three parts, which in future will be available both individually and as a Mafia Trilogy. The first part was not only revised, but completely designed as a remake from scratch. Mafia II comes as a remastered version and now supports 4K graphics, while the quite new Mafia III is just a compilation of the main game and all DLCs.

Mafia: Definitive Edition, i.e. the remake of the first part, should be released on August 28, 2020. The game has been redesigned from scratch and not only has a new engine, but also new content such as cutscenes, gameplay scenes, story content and more. The soundtrack has also been re-recorded. In the game you rise as taxi driver Tommy Angelo in the 1930s in the city of Lost Heaven in the ranks of the mafia.
Mafia II: Definitive Edition will be available from May 19, 2020 (yes, that is today!). The second part of the series leads you as a war veteran Vito Scaletta to Empire Bay in the 40s and 50s, also here of course in the ranks of organized crime. The game was optically revamped and ported to the current console generation, including 4K resolution. The Definitive Edition includes the main game along with all three expansions (The Betrayal of Jimmy, Jimmy’s Vendetta, Joe’s Adventure), as well as the clothing and vehicle packages (Vegas Pack, War Hero Pack, Renegade Pack, Greaser Pack).
Mafia III: Definitive Edition will also be released individually or as part of the trilogy on May 19, 2020. This is just a package from the main game and all content packs, including the extensions Faster Baby, Stones Unturned, Sign of the Times and the Vehicle and weapon packs Family Kick-Back Pack, Judge, Jury, Executioner Pack. Owners of one of the editions (or of course the trilogy) also unlock the jacket and vehicle of the respective main character in the other Definitive Editions for the other parts.
As already mentioned, all three Definitive Editions are available individually or as a complete package in the Mafia Trilogy. If you already have Mafia II on Steam, you will automatically receive the Definitive Edition. Already purchased versions of Mafia III on Steam, PS4 or Xbox One are automatically upgraded to the Definitive Edition.
Those who digitally purchase the Mafia Trilogy before August 28, 2020 will have immediate access to Mafia II: Definitive Edition and Mafia III: Definitive Edition. The remake of the first part will then be available for release on August 28, 2020. A disc version of the Mafia Trilogy will be released on August 28th along with the Mafia: Definitive Edition. For pre-orders there is also a bonus pack for the first part with an exclusive outfit, a Smith V12 limousine and a gold weapon skin.
