Elon Musk offers Starlink terminals to Tonga

Spacex CEO Elon Musk writes via Twitter that the company could send Starlink terminals to Tonga. The country recently lost its internet after a powerful volcanic eruption destroyed an underwater cable which is feared to take several weeks to repair.

According to Elon Musk, in that case a clear confirmation is needed because it is difficult for Spacex to achieve right now because they do not have enough satellites with laser connection.

Starlink currently has over 1,700 satellites in orbit and offers internet in 14 countries, of which Tonga is not yet one of them.
