The complicated relationship between Leonard Bernstein and his wife Felicia, who spent 25 years together, is told in the expected biopic Maestro from the Netflix video library. The world-famous conductor, author of the musical West Side Story, was portrayed and directed by Bradley Cooper. His wife is played by Carey Mulligan, the drama was produced by renowned creators Steven Spielberg and Martin Scorsese. The first trailer was released on Tuesday night.

One of the most famous conductors of the 20th century, Leonard Bernstein lived from 1918 to 1990. In 1951, he married actress and activist Felicia Montealegre, with whom he had three children. They spent a quarter of a century together, although Bernstein was also having affairs with men all the time, reminds Vanity Fair magazine. In 1976, he left his wife and started living with a man. A year later, doctors diagnosed his wife with lung cancer. Bernstein returned to her and cared for her until her death in 1978. He survived her by another 12 years.
Shortly before his death, the American came to the Prague Spring Festival, where he performed Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony not long after the Velvet Revolution. The concert was held in the presence of President Václav Havel, and the composer Petr Eben spoke at the beginning. Bernstein returned to the festival for the first time since 1946, when he made his conducting debut abroad.
