Madrid will invest 1.7 million euros to adapt seven historical neighborhoods in the capital – idealista / news

In Madrid there are up to a total of 17 colonies built between the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century located the vast majority in the Chamartín district. All of them were born in the heat of the Cheap Houses Law, but now they have become luxury neighborhoods. An example of this conversion is El Viso, located in the vicinity of Nuevos Ministerios and the Santiago Bernabéu stadium. One hundred years later, the streets, roads and urban furniture in these areas need serious rehabilitation. The consistory will allocate 1.7 million for these works, as published ABC.

These actions are part of the rehabilitation plan included in the catalog of elements protected by the General Urban Planning Plan (PGOU) for its historical and architectural value.

The seven neighborhoods that the council has chosen to rehabilitate are located in the Chamartín district and El Viso is the most representative of all of them. But before undertaking any reform, the Works and Equipment Area has commissioned a technical study of the public spaces and roads in these areas. The City Council intends to detect the real problems of these neighborhoods before carrying out any type of action.

The rehabilitation of these urban environments will take place in El Viso, in Iturbe in Cruz del Rayo, in Albéniz, Buena Vista and in the Press. In all these areas, a multitude of actions will be carried out, ranging from expansion of sidewalks and parking spaces to the installation of fords to regulate the circulation of vehicles.

A large part of these 1.7 million euros will go to the Viso and Iturbe areas. Specifically, the Madrid City Council will invest 582,000 euros in these two neighborhoods to improve the cross pedestrian connection on the axis of Calle Serrano, reorganize the parking area -in some streets it will go from line to battery- and adapt some sidewalks. For this, the consistory considers that it will need four months of term.

In Cruz del Rayo, the municipal government will focus its actions on the construction of new pedestrian crossings, fords and the painting of some areas. For this, it will be necessary to invest 68,640 euros, according to data from the Madrid City Council.

In the rest of the colonies, the works will also go in this same direction and it will be in Albéniz where a large part of the investment will accumulate -315,000 euros-. In the neighborhood of the Press and Fine Arts -in which the facades with regionalist decorative elements and the Arab tile roofs stand out- theasphalt operation ‘ that will be undertaken throughout this summer to renew the pavement of the streets of Balbina Valverde, Luis Muriel Tambre and Guadalquivir.
