Where has El Gordo played the most times? Which are the more repeated refunds and what is the termination with less luck? Have you ever fallen into the same number? Here we tell you these and other curiosities when there are 28 days left for the draw. As many will guess, Madrid is the town that most fat accumulates. The first prize has gone to the capital on a total of 78 occasions in the 207-year history of the draw, the last one, without going any further, last year 2017.
According to data from the Sociedad Estatal de Loterías y Apuestas del Estado (SELAE), the second city in Spain with the greatest fortune is Barcelona since in Barcelona it has played 40 times, followed by Seville, with 15, Valencia, Bilbao and Zaragoza ( with 12) and Cádiz (11).
Other Spanish cities that also seem to have subscribed to El Gordo are Santander and Malaga, where they have won the first prize nine times; Alicante, eight times; Granada, in seven; A Coruña, San Sebastián and Gijón, in six; Palma de Mallorca in five; Murcia, Badajoz, Lugo, Manises (Valencia), Sort (Lérida) and Vic (Barcelona), in four; and Burgos, Carballo (A Coruña), Logroño, Palencia, Valladolid and Pamplona, in three.
El Gordo was distributed twice in Vitoria, Albacete, Sabadell, Córdoba, Oviedo, Avilés, El Ejido (Almería), Benidorm (Alicante), Linares (Jaén), Lleida, Álora (Málaga), Algeciras (Cádiz), Huesca, Alcorcón (Madrid), Castellón, Segovia, Talavera de la Reina (Toledo), Alcira (Valencia), Casas Ibáñez (Albacete), Nava (Asturias), Boñar (León), Coria (Cáceres), Puerto de la Cruz (Santa Cruz de Tenerife), Telde (Las Palmas), San Bartolomé (Las Palmas) and Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid). From the capitals, it has fallen only once in Almería, Cáceres, Ciudad Real, Cuenca, Guadalajara, León, Pontevedra, Vigo, Santiago de Compostela, Las Palmas, Soria and Teruel.
In terms of numbers, the five continues to be the most repeated reinstatement of El Gordo throughout history, having been awarded 32 times. They are followed by four and six, with 27 times each. On the opposite side, the least graceful ending is once again (only eight times), followed by two (13) and nine (16).
Eight has been the refund of the first prize on 23 occasions, while zero and three have come out 21 times and seven, twenty. Of the 207 drawings held, the first prize has corresponded on 63 occasions to a number between zero and 10,000; 73 times to a number between 10,001 and 30,000; on other 72 occasions, to a number between 30,001 and 99,999.
Among the anecdotes, the number 15,640 was repeated in the draws of the years 1956 and 1978, while the number 20,297 did so in 1903 and 2006. Correlative numbers such as 13,093 and 13,094, and 53,452 and 53,453 have also been awarded.
Likewise, the final figures 297, 457 and 515 have been repeated three times; and twice 094, 098, 400, 452, 640, 704, 758 and 892. However, they have not yet obtained the first prize in the thousands 27, 37, 39, 41, 44, 51, 64, from 67 to 70 , from 72 to 75, 77, and from 80 to 99.
For its part, the terminations of the two most repeated figures have been 85, on seven occasions; 57 six times; 75 on five occasions; 64 also five times; 95, 58 and 40, on four occasions each; but El Gordo has never finished on 09, 10, 21, 25, 31, 34, 41, 42, 43, 51, 54, 59, 67, 78 and 82.
The first jackpot in this historic draw went to number 03604, awarded 8,000 pesos, while the earliest remembered was the one in 2004, which came out 13 minutes after the start of the draw, with ball 39 of the second wire of the first table. The draw has never been canceled since since 1812, not even because of the Civil War.
