Madrid is seeking to gain the honor of organizing the final of the 2020 Champions League, as city mayor Jose Luis Martínez-Almeida announced today, Tuesday, “his full and absolute support” for the city’s bid to host the final.
The Champions League final is to be held in Istanbul, Turkey, at the Ataturk Stadium, but the championship was halted in the round of 16 after the spread of the Coruna virus in the old continent.

The Mayor of Madrid said in statements to the newspaper “Marca”: “I know there are arrangements and I want to announce the full support of the municipality for the final of the Champions League in Madrid.”
The mayor sees hosting the sharpener as a good opportunity to highlight the city’s recovery and its ability to withstand the global epidemic.
So far, the UEFA has not decided the venue of the final, will it take place in Turkey or be withdrawn, but newspaper reports have confirmed that Istanbul will not host the final.
A number of cities have been put forward to host the final match, such as Lisbon, Moscow and Frankfurt, Germany.
Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Miterpoliano stadium hosted the final match of the last version of the Champions League which Liverpool won at the expense of his compatriot Tottenham.
