Lying diamond merchant sentenced to 180 days in prison for fake robbery | Inland

At the end of 2016, Mischa van G. saw no other way out of his financial problems than to supposedly let himself be robbed. After half a year, the deception came out. The insurance had meanwhile paid 3.5 million euros.

The court says that although no employees were involved in the scam and there were no witnesses, Mischa van G. has really scared people in his environment and that the police have carried out extensive investigations for nothing. Moreover, he has damaged the trust that his insurer placed in him.

Mischa van G. will never work in the diamond industry again. He now helps his wife with her internet business in second-hand clothing and, as a beekeeper, provides information at schools about bees.

A co-defendant was sentenced by the court to 90 days suspended prison terms and 200 community service.
