S-Class is now available with Norwegian prices starting at well over a million kroner. The first cars for Norwegian customers are expected to arrive during the first quarter of 2021, Mercedes states in a press release.

– The model that defines the class has always been the spearhead of Mercedes-Benz. With the new S-Class, engineering and good craftsmanship meet digital innovation and new user experiences. In short – the car for those who do not like compromises, says Kjetil Myhre, Executive Vice President Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car at Bertel O. Steen AS in the press release.

From the back seat

In the new S-Class, the dashboard has got what Mercedes calls new architecture, and the car is equipped with up to five screens both in front of the driver and rear passengers. It will make the control of the vehicle easier, thanks to the second generation MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) with many new features. In the new S-Class, this can also be operated from passengers in the back seat.

Central to the interior is the large central screen in portrait format, which is located between the driver and the passenger seat.

The infotainment system can learn the driver’s habits and take the initiative by using control panel cameras and learning algorithms, to be able to recognize and anticipate the driver’s or passengers’ wishes and intentions. This is done by interpreting head direction, hand movements and body language and then responding with similar vehicle functions.

19 engines

Only the seats are worth a few words. Up to 19 motors are installed in the front seats to provide the best possible seating comfort, in addition, ten different massage programs will be available.

The engines range from the «smallest man», a diesel engine of 286 hp to the top model S500 4Matic with a six-cylinder petrol engine of 435 hp and a raw 4.9 seconds from zero to 100 km / h. With a little extra equipment on this, the price tag will end up somewhere between 1.7 and 2 million kroner. With fuel consumption approaching the liter per mile.
