End of an Era: Sherbrooke’s 113-Year-Old Newspaper ‘La Tribune’ Goes Digital

A page of history is being turned in Sherbrooke with the imminent end of the paper newspaper “La Tribune”. December 30 will be the last day you can receive your copy, after more than 113 years. The artisans are now preparing to deliver this edition, for one very last time.

The economic model of paper having been in decline for around fifteen years, both in terms of advertising revenue and subscription, the “La Tribune” team announced, already nine months ago, that it would undertake a 100% shift towards digital by 2024.

“It’s heartbreaking for readers, but also for journalists. In general, when you work in the written press, it’s because you love paper. For our team, we have to leave a format that we really like. But the truth is that there are several advantages of being digital,” underlined the editor-in-chief, Chloé Cotnoir.

This latest edition, made up of around a hundred pages, will allow us to look back on the history of “La Tribune” from 1910 to today.
