Lukashenko announces activation of NATO forces in Lithuania and Poland – Abroad – News

It is precisely because of Western threats that, according to Lukashenko, Belarusian army units have been transferred to the western borders, which is “the most important decision in the last quarter of a century”, the Belarusian dictator quoted the official state news agency BelTA as saying. One of the reasons for such an action is the alleged military assistance provided by NATO countries to the Belarusian opposition. They also want to oust the “alternative president,” Lukashenko added, without specifying what exactly is at stake.

This is not the first time that Lukashenko has made vague and vague statements since the large-scale falsification of the presidential election in Belarus.

He previously claimed that there was a threat of military invasion to separate the Grodno region of Belarus, which borders Lithuania and Poland.

“That’s why they (Western countries) have set a goal to first separate this area – Grodno. It has recently been hoisted Polish flags,” Lukashenko was quoted as saying by the official news agency BelTA.

“Now the homeland is in danger. We cannot joke. Furthermore, it is not a weak force – NATO. That is why I warned the Russian President about the situation in Belarus. We have full mutual understanding, we have a proper agreement within the Collective Security Treaty Organization and the Union.” pointed out the president.

According to the official results of the presidential election in Belarus on August 9, the current head of state Alexander Lukashenko won 80.1% of the vote and the opposition candidate Svetlana Tikhanovska – 10.1%, but the opposition believes that the election results are fake and Tikhanovska has won the election convincingly.

Protests against electoral fraud and President Lukashenko, who have often escalated into protests by security forces, have continued in the capital, Minsk, since 9 August. During the protests, several thousand people were detained and several hundred were injured. Workers in many companies have gone on strike.
