69-year-old dies after fire in an apartment building

Northeim (dpa / lni) – After the fire in an apartment building in Northeim, a 69-year-old man died. According to the police, another four people were injured. According to the information, the fire broke out on Thursday evening for reasons that are still unclear on the first floor of the building.
The 69-year-old, who was dependent on a wheelchair according to the police, was rescued from the house by the fire brigade. He had to be resuscitated and died on Friday from his injuries, the police reported.
A 91-year-old woman was taken from her apartment by another resident and broke her thigh. She also sustained burn injuries. Her 38-year-old rescuer was also reportedly injured, as well as a 68-year-old neighbor and an 18-year-old firefighter. Police say the apartment building is no longer habitable. The police estimate the amount of the damage at 150,000 euros. Fire investigators are expected to determine the cause of the fire on Friday.
