Kattakkada ∙ The husband was arrested after eight months in the case where the newlyweds hanged themselves in their house on the 15th day after falling in love at Kattakkada, Thiruvananthapuram. Vipin (Unni-28) was arrested at Shibin Bhawan in Kallamam Kallarakuzhi. Vipin was arrested in the case of death of Sona (22) at Thannichamkuzhi Sona Bhavan. VIP and Sona got married last June. On the 13th day, Sona was found hanging dead in her husband’s house.

According to the police, the investigation found that Sona’s death was due to physical and mental abuse by her husband. The accused was arrested by a police team led by DySP C. Jayakumar. Kattakada was produced in court.

Last July, Sona was found hanging in the bedroom of her husband’s house. Vipin, an auto driver, and Sona got married after dating for a year and a half. But on the 15th night of their marriage, Sona was found hanging on the fan in the same room where her husband slept. Her husband Vipin has been arrested after eight months in a case that has been full of mystery ever since.

Though it was a love marriage, Vipin mentally harassed Sona by demanding dowry. On some days he was physically beaten. The police found that the cause of suicide was frustration and distress. There was also doubt that the husband did not know that Sona had hanged herself in the room where Vipin was sleeping. Vipin said that he did not know because he fell asleep. Although there is doubt about this, the investigation so far has found that it was not a murder but a suicide.
