Los Angeles Lakers fail to keep Joël Ayayi

As the regular season approaches, the Lakers cleaned up their squad and separated from four players on Friday, including Joël Ayayi. The young French player (21 years old), from the University of Gonzaga, not drafted but recruited in “two-way contract” by the franchise of LeBron James, will therefore play in the development league (G-League) with the South Bay Lakers if he is not recruited in the next few days by another team. The rear had been quite discreet in the Summer League (4.8 points, 3 rebounds and 2.4 average assists).

His compatriot Sekou Doumbouya (20), recently recruited by the Lakers via the same “two-way” contract, is himself retained and could therefore always go back and forth between the NBA (Los Angeles Lakers) and the G-League (South Bay Lakers) in 2021-2022.
