Longer diversions and cancellations Restrictions for train drivers between Stuttgart and Munich Stuttgart

After the fire in Stuttgart Central Station and the storm “Sabine”, train passengers have to adjust again to disabilities. The reason is construction work.

Many long-distance trains had to be diverted widely between Friday and Monday or were canceled between Stuttgart, Ulm, Augsburg and Munich.

ICE trains bypass Ulm

According to the information, ICE trains from the Rhine / Ruhr and Berlin / Frankfurt directions ran from Stuttgart via a detour route without a stop to Augsburg and on to Munich. Likewise in the opposite direction. According to the train, the ICE trains take around 30 to 60 minutes longer to detour.

IC and TGV trains only run to Stuttgart

All other long-distance journeys between Stuttgart and Munich were canceled. This affected the TGV trains Paris-Munich, the IC trains Karlsruhe-Munich and EC / IC trains Frankfurt-Klagenfurt / Graz, among others. According to the information, these trains continued to Stuttgart and the Munich-Klagenfurt / Graz route. Therefore the long-distance stops in Plochingen, Göppingen, Geislingen, Ulm and Günzburg were canceled. Only a few long-distance trains ran between Ulm and Munich. Deutsche Bahn has already announced further restrictions in long-distance traffic between Stuttgart and Munich from March 22nd to 24th.

Work on the overhead line in the train station in Süßen

Replacement bus service in the Filstal

The regional express trains of the train ran between Stuttgart and Göppingen and between Geislingen and Ulm. There is a replacement bus service for buses between Göppingen and Geislingen.

The rail operator Go-Ahead announced that due to the construction work on the overhead line, all trains of the RB16 between Eislingen and Geislingen will be canceled from Thursday evening up to and including Monday. There is also an alternative bus service here.

The Deutsche Bahn recommends that its passengers consult the travel information m.bahn.de, in the DB Navigator app and at www.bahn.de/Reiseauskunft to inform about all current connections.

Kabelbrand and “Sabine” already posed a problem for passengers

During the storm “Sabine”, rail traffic in the country was temporarily stopped. “Sabine” swept across Germany from last Sunday. A few days earlier, rail traffic at Stuttgart Central Station had to be temporarily stopped due to a cable fire. Disabilities continued for days.
