Ukraine, US deputy spends Easter with her family in Kiev
American congresswoman Victoria Spartz, the first elected to Congress born in Ukraine, spent Orthodox Easter with her family in Kiev. She told CNN the same Republican from Indiana. She spartz said she met the head of the Ukrainian Church, Metropolitan Onufriy, during her trip.
“People, even if they have problems, try to celebrate” Easter, Spartz said, stating that he had attended the religious service with his 88-year-old grandmother. The deputy also has another 95-year-old grandmother. “They can’t believe that after everything Ukraine went through, Stalin, World War II, most of my family was killed,” she said.
