LIVE: Prof. Angelov: The situation in the country is becoming extremely serious – Diseases

The situation in the country is starting to become extremely serious. All this was expected of us, given the wide spread of the British strain in our country. There are no right solutions and right models to deal with this crisis. There is no society that is not facing a crisis and does not pay with work, income and lives. We can’t help but make mistakes. I accept criticism and every outstretched hand, but I will not accept spitting. This was stated by the Minister of Health Prof. Kostadin Angelov during the regular briefing of NIGHT.

“In the months since the beginning of the pandemic, Bulgaria has achieved a lot,” he said.

“He who promises you a life without disease is lying to you. He who claims that we do not know how to cope because he is not involved in this process is deceiving you. There is one thing we are losing. It is our desire to stand up and “I want to thank all the people who believe in the measures. All the doctors, nurses and paramedics across the country,” he said.

According to him, medicine cannot fight for a patient who does not want to fight for himself, and it can do a lot.

2774 new cases of COVID-19 in Bulgaria – over 20% of those tested

“Every human life is priceless. We fight with many lies, many sparks fly in society, a lot of fear is created in people and we are responsible for all this. One can lie to everyone and lie every day. The only true and correct solution is to believe in science. And science is vaccines, “he said.

“We have learned many lessons for this one year”, Prof. Angelov is categorical.

“Yesterday I was in Burgas. The situation there is serious. I saw several children in the infectious wards, among them there are babies at 3 months, at 5 months. They have a mild disease, but they all have bilateral bronchopneumonia,” said the Minister of Health.

He also cites the data for the country: 2774 are the newly diagnosed with COVID-19 persons in our country in the last 24 hours. The proven cases of the new coronavirus in our country are a total of 269,579 – the active cases are 38,531. For the last 24 hours 13,691 tests have been performed – the positive ones are 20.3% of those tested. The hospitalized patients are 6 395 – 501, of which they are in the intensive care unit. The number of deaths per day is 97. With them the total number of victims is already 10,999. 2531 have been cured by COVID-19 for the last day, bringing the total number to 220,049. 6,995 people have been vaccinated per day. With them, the total number of vaccines is 309,145, the data show.

Prof. Angelov said that the system is prepared and wherever there is a problem with the beds, he will visit them. “There are enough precautions, as well as remdesivir. We are running with the situation in the country. The only way out is vaccines. All members of the Sectional Election Commissions had to be vaccinated by March 5, but we failed to do so. We suspect that some people enroll only to be vaccinated, and do not intend to participate in the election process. The first and second needles are reserved for them. The situation is such that with what we have today – we will vaccinate. As for the fact that “The AstraZeneca vaccine is not suitable for people over the age of 65, which is not the case. I am the last person in the country who does not want to have vaccines. Whatever comes is sent immediately,” he said.

“The best vaccine is – the available vaccine! All the vaccines that are given give results. Let’s give an example with Israel, which vaccine they give and what they achieve. Let’s give an example with England and which vaccine they give and what they achieve. “I did not have the right to choose my vaccine, but when it is my family’s turn, they will be vaccinated with AstraZeneca. We are working with what we have,” the health minister explained.

“In Bulgaria, the elderly are not at home, but at work,” he added.

According to him, there will be no full lockdown because Bulgarian society is not ready. “If we do it suddenly, they will not be understood. Therefore, we will limit in places. We are not an example of a country with great discipline,” he explained, adding that he would not show the videos that were sent to him on March 8 and how people dancing at tables in restaurants. “What have we not said so far, what more information should we give?” He asked.

“I am not afraid of the measures, if necessary – we will do them. In terms of control – about 7 million people live in our country, but we do not have as many police officers. The control borders on personal responsibility,” he added. measures are taken where necessary. “We are aware of the numbers. We are monitoring them. Where measures need to be taken, they will be taken. If it has to be at the national level, this will happen,” said Prof. Angelov.
