In India, more than 500,000 residents have now been infected with the corona virus. This is evident from the latest figures released by the government of the country. According to the authorities, 18,500 new infections have been registered in the past 24 hours. Never before had there been so many within 24 hours.

After Russia, Brazil and the United States, India has the most people who became infected with the lung virus. To date, 15,685 people have died from the effects of the disease.

The pandemic is expected to peak in the country in a few weeks. Experts say the number of contamination cases before the end of July could exceed one million.
