LIVE – Gloria storm: Aude and the Pyrénées-Orientales in orange

MIDDAY DAY

The situation in the coming hours

The sometimes intense rains have resumed over the Pyrénées-Orientales, locally taking on a stormy character. They quickly react to certain watercourses, such as the Tech which, upstream, saw its level increase by 1.5 m in less than two hours. This is also what will happen on other sensitive rivers such as the Aude or Agly.

Upstream, the levels should not reach those of the beginning of the night. Downstream, however, the levels may be significantly higher, as in Revisaltes, Trèbes or Puichéric. Downstream from Trèbes, the rise in the Aude continues. Combined with the new rains, the flood will therefore continue to worsen.

The end of the rains is expected around 12h-13h on the Pyrénées-Orientales. In the Aude, the lull is expected around 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. with a general decline from the end of the afternoon.

In all, 1,800 people were evacuated. Some were housed in a gymnasium, as in Claira.

Flood red weather alert

Météo France has decided to lift red vigilance in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The department therefore becomes vigilant orange. Only the Aude remains on the alert.

Schools are closed and E3C tests postponed

This Thursday, January 23, the schools of Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales are closed. The common tests of continuous control (E3C) planned in the Pyrenees-Orientales and in the Aude, January 23 are postponed, indicates the site of the academy.

Suspended transport

All school and passenger transport are suspended for the whole day in the Pyrénées-Orientales. The planes were diverted to Béziers or Montpellier.
