PARIS WANTS A “SIGN OF SOLIDARITY”
France is awaiting “a stronger and more visible” signal of solidarity from the EU. It is necessary “to give a signal to the highest level of coordination”, underlines thus the Elysée, estimating that Europe “cannot be the continent of wait-and-see”, whereas the United States, China or Japan announced their determination to support their economy in the face of the impact of the crisis.
This meeting, the first by videoconference, must resemble the 27 heads of state and government of the EU but also the president of the European Council, the president of the Commission and that of the ECB Christine Lagarde.
