The lunar eclipse section can be seen well on Friday evening due to the expected clear weather. A lot of spectacle will nevertheless not result, reports Weerplaza.
According to the weather service, during the afternoon the rain showers move away to the east and it will clear up from the west. That is essential, because according to weatherman Raymond Klaassen from Weather plaza this is the “least spectacular” and “sometimes barely perceptible” variant of the possible types of lunar eclipses.
On Friday evening it is a so-called partial lunar eclipse in the shadow. This means that the full moon remains visible and only slightly darkens. There will also be no bite from the moon. This is because the moon is only partially placed in the shadow of the earth; part of the sunlight keeps shining on the moon.
There is also no so-called blood moon. In that case the shadow of the entire earth must fall over the moon. With a total lunar eclipse, the earth covers all the sunlight and the moon becomes completely dark.
The partial lunar eclipse starts at 6:06 pm and will be at its peak at 8:11 pm. After 22.15 the shadow disappeared again.
