Little Richard is buried privately

Rock’n’Roll pioneer Little Richard (1932-2020, “Tutti Frutti”) will be buried in a private ceremony next Wednesday (May 20), the director of the Oakwood Garden Memorial cemetery said. The cemetery belongs to Oakwood University in Huntsville, Alabama. Little Richard, a devout believer, had studied theology there in the late 1950s.

Between the 1960s and 1990s, Little Richard was a priest under his real name Richard Wayne Penniman and sometimes filled halls with up to 20,000 believers. Until the early 2000s he was still a priest at weddings. Throughout his life he was in conflict between secular and non-secular music. Most recently, he swore by secular art in 2017 in order to be able to devote himself exclusively to his religiousness.
