Bentley’s father was originally planning to adopt two chickens at the Jackson County Animal Shelter last week, but changed his mind when he came across a cleft lip puppy.
The animal has exactly the same malformation as the little blond boy and thus fits the boy like a fist on the eye.
The two-year-old did not have an easy start in life, as his mother says, according to the news portal WTOC.
“We had to put him on and feed him and hold his lip together so he could eat,” reported his mom Ashley.
Meanwhile, Bentley has had two more surgeries and is getting stronger every day to cope better with his birth defect.
“To see that he has something in common with a puppy means a lot,” the mother puts her feelings into words.
According to the shelter, it is a small miracle that a puppy with a cleft palate was housed there. The animal is doing well. It is assumed that the dog will have no further health problems.

The situation is different at Bentley, which has to undergo a bone transplant as it ages. Fortunately, in addition to the support of his parents, he can now fully rely on a loyal companion on four paws.
