“Little America”: a promising new anthology series to discover in January on AppleTV +

Already renewed for a season 2, “Little America” will be put online on Friday January 17 by AppleTV+.

Inspired by true stories published in Epic magazine, “Little America” unveils “the fun, romantic, moving and surprising stories of immigrants in the United States” announces the platform.

Written by Lee Eisenberg (“The Office”) who also serves as showrunner, it is produced by Kumail Nanjiani (“The Big Sick”), Emily V. Gordon (“The Big Sick”), Alan Young (“Master of None”, “Parks and Recreation”), or even Sian Heder (“Orange is the new black”).


The first season to discover this January 17 is composed of eight episodes of thirty minutes. Each of them has its own story. “The Manager” follows 12-year-old Kabir, whose parents who run a hotel have just been sent back to India. “The Jaguar” tells the daily life of Marisol, an undocumented Mexican who dreams of becoming a squash champion. “The Cowboy” has as its main character a Nigerian who has just graduated in economics and who, a fan of cowboys, tries to get used to life in Oklahoma.

“The Silence” is about Sylviane, who after a ten-day meditation retreat developed feelings for a man with whom she did not exchange a single word. “The Son” follows in the footsteps of Rafik, forced to flee Syria after his father discovered he was gay. “The Baker” has for heroine Beatrice, the only one of her siblings of 22 brothers and sisters to have been sent from Uganda to study in the United States. “The Grand Prize Expo Winners” features a single Singaporean mother who wins a cruise to Alaska on which she and her children will experience the pleasures of life for the first time. Finally “The Rock” shows an Iranian capable of anything to build a house for his family…

On the casting side, we find in particular John Ortiz, Zachary Quinto, Sherilyn Fenn, or even the French actress Mélanie Laurent.
