Crans-Montana: a very Alsatian “French Kiss” | Gilles Pudlowski’s blog

It’s called French Kiss Lounge, but it could also – and even rather – be called “ Alsatian Kiss“. In what was once called “Montana Diner“, a young Alsatian couple, Annaelle Lutz and Hugo Wittersheim, 23 years old each, both natives of Colmar – the parents of the first hold the Relais du Ried hotel in Bischwihr – have created a winstub in the Alps in their own way, with its view of the Grenon pond, its cozy setting, its deckchairs which allow you to cool off in the sun.

In the kitchen, tarts flambéed over a wood fire play the gourmet stars of the place. The traditional with cream, bacon bits, onions, the gratin with grated cheese, the country style with mushrooms, the vegetarian with goat cheese, honey, arugula and walnuts, the mountain with munster cheese or the one with smoked salmon are worth tasting.

The prices, of course, from 19 to 25 CHF are higher than in Alsace. But we are in Switzerland and, given what is practiced in the resort, the place looks like a bargain – especially since on Friday evenings, we offer here the “flammekueche” which is served at will for 20 CHF! There are still the specialties of the Great East, sauerkraut, quiche Lorraine or with vegetables, but also the hot Vacherin, with potatoes, onions and gherkins, the beef carpaccio with fries, the warm goat cheese salad, plus the desserts of good company.

The blueberry crumble, the fruit tart of the moment, the apple tart or the chocolate fondant. And you can also drink Alsatian, with gewurztraminers from Preiss-Henny or Wolfberger. Convenient non-stop service. Hop there, once !
