The new speculation about Messi’s future came days after important statements by La Liga President Javier Tebas about the possibility of Barcelona regaining its former star before the start of the next season.
Tebas stressed that Barcelona does not have the financial capabilities, currently, to restore the efforts of the Argentine legend, but he expressed his hope for his “return.”
“It is not possible (to register him in La Liga), but there is time for that,” Tebas said in a press conference, referring to the possibility of Barcelona developing a “feasibility study” by “selling some of its players.”
He continued, “We will not amend the financial control laws that clubs agreed to in order to register Messi, although we would like him to return to our league.”
And the newspaper “Mundo Deportivo” confirmed, in its issue issued last Wednesday, that Barcelona has a “firm desire to restore Messi” next summer, on the basis of a contract that extends for two seasons.
Messi left the Catalan team, which in 2004 saw his start with the first team, in the summer of 2021 before joining Paris Saint-Germain.
Messi scored 31 goals in 70 games with the French capital, without being able to win the Champions League title.
