Limburg has won the Regional Song Contest. Emmy Ackermans won her song after counting the votes from the public and the professional jury The Last Round declared winner.
The scoring was quite exciting. Groningen started very well. The rappers of Wat Aans! received the full twelve points a few times. Then Brabant came along. Sam & Merijn went with cheers to life therefore in the lead with 120 points after the professional jury had divided the points. The later winner Limburg was third, 8 points behind.
Groningen was with the rap song Waking up in Grunn from Wat Aans! the viewers’ favorite. They had 78 points to spare, but that was not enough to keep Emmy Ackermans from winning. She received 65 points from the viewers and finished with 177 points. Brabant, Overijssel and Groningen shared second with 172 points.
“It’s not normal,” the Limburg winner was able to say when it was clear that she had won. She was still speechless on stage, she told the presenters.
The Regional Song Contest was organized for the first time this year. All regional public broadcasters participated. Because Limburg won the festival, broadcaster L1 can organize the song spectacle next year.
