“I started with a full audit, I’m still in it, I even went to see the U10s and U11s play last weekend. We have already launched a lot of things with this strong idea to instill the ASNL spirit in our young people. We are lucky to have a lot of educators who themselves brilliantly defended the club’s colors. There is also a lot of skill in pre-training and in football school. I am offered interesting developments, such as the establishment of a double futsal license for our young people. On this kind of small surface, we develop even more dribbling, support, vision of the game. I also want to do a specific session once a week, bringing together all the attackers from the center for example. “
We feel you are attached to technical players …
” Of course. In general, there are enough of over-formatted players! In training centers, we too often look for players with a good average level in all aspects of the game. When a young person has a strong quality, on the contrary, it is necessary to insist on it, to develop it. We must let the dribblers express themselves and we must not focus only on the templates. Look at little N’Golo Kanté, he makes people forget his physique thanks to his incredible activity. “

What, according to you, are the essential qualities to find in a resident of the training center?
You need talent of course, but you also need passion, intelligence and hard work. After that, it’s up to us to support and help the young player. It takes a lot of humility. With experience, I know one thing: it is dangerous to have great certainties and to draw conclusions too hastily, especially because all young people do not have the same growth. We don’t have any money, but I told the president, it’s not a problem, it must be a force. “
What do you mean by that ?
“To bounce back and to experience magnificent sporting periods, ASNL has always relied on young people trained at the club. In 2002, when Pablo Correa took the team in the position of red lantern of L2, he bet on the generation Michaël Chrétien, Pape Diakhaté and the others. With us, young people will always have the place to join the pro group and to play. In much more upscale clubs, young people find it much more difficult to break through. “
Hence your desire, also, to have more and more confidence in the young people of the region?
” Of course. When you manage to have a few locals in the pro group, it creates and promotes a club identity. We play the game completely with the Pôle Espoirs and we want to work in good harmony with the amateur clubs around us. I recently got closer to Vandoeuvre, for example, to explain my way of seeing things, I’m going to do the same with all the other good amateur clubs around and there are a few. We are not there to loot them in U9 or U10. We must operate in good understanding. The idea is that the local clubs have the reflex to ask us when they have a youngster really above the rest.
