LG attacks with new V60 ThinQ 5G

follows on March 26 – LG has now also presented its new smartphone flagship for this year. This is called V60 ThinQ 5G and – like that Predecessor (V50 ThinQ)
– A second, pluggable touchscreen can be added. This offers an additional mini display (2.1 inches) on the back for notifications. Because the two screens can be folded thanks to the 360-degree hinge. However, this “dual screen” function costs extra. The equipment of the normal device corresponds to the current state of the art.

The linchpin of the V60 ThinQ 5G is its 6.8-inch OLED screen, which offers a resolution of 2,460 x 1,080 pixels. The drive is Qualcomm’s new top chip Snapdragon 865, which also has a 5G modem. He has 8 GB of RAM at his side. You can choose between 128 or 256 GB for the internal storage. The huge 5,000mAh battery is due to the dual-screen concept. If necessary, the battery must also supply the second screen with power. The monster battery can be charged via the USB-C connection using the quick charge function. LG deserves praise for holding onto the 3.5 mm jack plug. Here the flagship is the only manufacturer besides Sony. WLAN 6 (ax), Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, fingerprint sensor and various location services complete the equipment.

With a flagship model, excellent camera technology is an absolute must. For the V60 ThinQ 5G, LG relies on a triple main camera and extensive functions of artificial intelligence (AI). The latter are intended to provide extensive support for the user when taking photos and videos. The hardware uses a main camera with 64 MP, a wide-angle lens with 13 MP (117 degrees coverage) and a “Time of Flight” sensor (ToF). Videos can be recorded in 8K resolution. The 10 MP front camera has some special modes and filters that are supposed to ensure perfect selfies.

Availability

According to LG, the new V60 ThinQ 5G, which runs on Android 10, will be available in European stores in March 2020. It remains to be seen whether Austria will be there from the start. The announcement speaks of “core countries”. Prices have not yet been revealed; not even for the second display.
