We learned today that the LFP would like to start next season on August 22. Indeed, we can read in L’Equipe, that the office of the Professional Football League would like the next exercise in Ligue 1 and League 2 to start during the third week of August. This option, which was defended by Betrand Desplat, the president of the League and by the services of the League thus marked a point. We can read that the LFP office, which met on Thursday, April 9, unanimously voted a date for the resumption of professional championships on Saturday August 22 for League 2 and Sunday August 23 for League 1. It is the scenario which is favored by the League but the coronavirus pandemic which is currently raging could well decide otherwise.

The advantage of not starting too late is above all not to jeopardize the first installments of Mediapro, which will be the main broadcaster of the championship between 2020 and 2024. Indeed, the Spanish group must pay 780 million euros annually for Ligue 1.
