Its name may not mean anything to you and yet … Shi Zhengli identified the coronavirus in China. The virologist has been analyzing the virus for sixteen years on bats. She spoke about the pandemic in an interview with the local channel CGTN.
According to her, it is essential to study the viruses present in nature. Shi Zhengli therefore warns: “There are many species of bats and wild animals. The unknown viruses that we have already discovered there are just the tip of the iceberg. If we want to protect humanity and prevent the reoccurrence of a contagious virus, we must know these viruses in advance so that we can raise the alarm if necessary. These viruses are found in nature whether we like it or not. If we don’t study them, there could be another epidemic. ”
Throughout her scientific career, the virologist has discovered more than one disease found in bats. The animal’s immune system is indeed the carrier of several viruses … which can be dangerous for humans.
Note also that Shi Zhengli is implicated in the leak of the Covid-19from the Wuhan laboratory. Charges dismissed by China.
