The peak of the Leonid meteor shower will occur tonight, Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 2023. This phenomenon is the second meteor shower to reach its peak in November 2023.
According to Live Science, the Leonid meteor shower phenomenon will take place from November 3-December 2 2023. Then it will reach its peak on November 17-18 2023.

About the Leonid Meteor Shower
The Leonid meteor shower originates from the remaining dust from the comet Tempel-Tuttle appearing to come from the direction of the constellation Leo. The Leonids are one of the oldest meteor showers ever recorded in history, precisely in 902.
Observers in China recorded the Leonid meteor shower as “stars falling like rain”. Observations in the same year were also carried out by observers in Egypt and Italy.

According to the Jakarta Planetarium on its official Instagram @planetariumjkt, the peak time for the Leonid meteor shower will occur on Friday, November 17 and Saturday, November 18 at 00.21 WIB to 05.00 WIB.
“The peak of the Leonid Meteor Shower occurs on 17-18 November 2023. This Meteor Shower can be observed from 6-30 November 2023 at midnight until just before sunrise,” wrote the Planetarium in its official account, quoted on Friday (17/11/22023).
How to Observe the Leonid Meteor Shower
The Leonid meteor shower can be seen from Indonesia. Sky observers can observe this phenomenon from the northern and southern hemispheres every year after midnight until early morning.
If you want to observe a meteor shower, then look for a location that is dark and not contaminated with light pollution. Use a planisphere or star map, either printed or in app form, to find the direction the meteor shower is coming from.
Make observations when the meteor shower reaches its peak. You can start observing the Leonid meteor shower the day before until the day after the peak of the meteor shower.
