In the second phase, multiple insured are also entitled. Secondary income is not an exclusion criterion.

Since the start of the second phase of the hardship fund for the self-employed today at 12 p.m., the Chamber of Commerce has received around 27,500 applications by 5 p.m. The chamber announced this early on Monday evening. Support for those affected by the corona crisis can be requested on the website of the Chamber of Commerce.

Up to 2,000 euros are available for three months, for a total of up to 6,000 euros. If they prove an “economically significant threat from COVID-19”, those affected usually receive 80 percent of the loss of earnings.

After criticizing the eligibility criteria, the definition of a hardship case has been relaxed. In the second phase, multiple insured are also entitled. Secondary income is no longer an exclusion criterion and even high earners who earned more than 5,000 euros gross per month before the crisis are now considered hardship cases. The lower limit of around EUR 460 per month was also deleted.
