Leipziger dies after vaccination with Astrazeneca – connection?

A man died in Leipzig as a result of a sinus thrombosis. He had previously received his first vaccination with the Astrazeneca active ingredient. A connection seems likely.

In Leipzig, a man died this week as a result of a sinus thrombosis. Due to the temporal proximity, the death of the over 40-year-old could be related to a corona vaccination with the preparation of the manufacturer Astrazeneca, said a spokeswoman for the Leipzig University Hospital (UKL) on Thursday. “The laboratory results so far indicate a connection with the previous vaccination, but are not yet complete.”

The Paul Ehrlich Institute (PEI) received all information on the case. There they should now be checked and evaluated. The “Leipziger Volkszeitung” had previously reported.

Rare brain thromboses reported only after primary vaccination

According to the PEI, 102 cases of sinus and cerebral vein thrombosis after vaccination with the corona vaccine from Astrazeneca had been reported in Germany by the beginning of June, 67 women and 35 men. 21 people died. The very rare cases of these brain thromboses were therefore only reported after the first vaccination dose.

According to the PEI, 8,586,297 initial doses of this vaccine had been administered in Germany by the beginning of June. In those affected, the symptoms usually started within 29 days of the vaccination.
