Legal battle over frozen embryos has a new setback

The legal battle over the embryos of Sofia Vergara Y Nick Loeb it seems to have no end. And now, the actress has just won another battle against her ex-fiance after a court in Louisiana denied Loeb custody rights, since he does not have a residence in Louisiana or a residence in his name there, so they did not have the “proper jurisdiction” in this case.

Loeb filed the case in Louisiana after Sofia asked the California court in 2017 to bar Loeb from accessing the embryos without her consent.

Although Loeb was denied full custody of the embryos in California, Loeb tried again in the Louisiana court, and the Louisiana court also denied his request.

On November 10, a judge ruled that a jury will decide whether the lawsuit of Sofía, who accuses her ex of breach of contract, proceeds or not.

When they were a couple, they planned to have a child through in vitro fertilization, so they decided to start the process in 2013 and signed an agreement in which neither of them could use the embryos without the other’s written consent.

The ex-partner has been fighting in court for more than five years to obtain custody of these embryos, which are in a bank in Beverly Hills, California.

As the actress has said on several occasions, her intention is to destroy them while Loeb has clung to preserve them.

According to some documents obtained by the site RadarOnlineIn 2019, a Los Angeles judge ordered Vergara to pay her ex more than $ 79,000 so he could pay for his attorneys’ fees.

At first, Loeb demanded that the now wife of Joe Manganiello to pay him $ 120,000, a request that had been rejected by the artist’s legal representatives, who argued in court that the motion should be denied or reduced.

However, in October of the same year a judge decided that the businesswoman should pay the amount in the next 30 days.
