The government through the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) has announced a five percent increase in the price of a low cost green car or LCGC. As a result, PT Honda Prospect Motor (HPM) will raise the selling price Honda Brio Satya in Indonesia.
Marketing Director of PT HPM, Yusak Billy said, the government’s move to increase the threshold for selling LCGC in Indonesia was a wise decision. This is because production and logistics costs for vehicles have recently become more expensive.
“The production costs and logistics costs are very high. So, we are consideringadjust the price increase,” said Yusak Billy when met at JCC Senayan, Jakarta, Friday (10/3) yesterday.
When asked how much the price increase for the Honda Brio Satya was, Billy admitted that he couldn’t say anything yet. However, if you refer to Permenperin Number 36 of 2021, the increase in the maximum price limit for LCGC reaches IDR 6.7 million from the previous limit.
“We don’t know how much the increase will be, but we are considering a price increase, because production and logistics costs have gone up very high, so there needs to be an adjustment,” he said.
Not only that, Billy also can’t say when the price of Brio Satya will increase. However, one thing is clear, his party supports the increase in LCGC prices that have been set by the government.
“Later, we will not tell you about that (when it will be announced). We are still in the consideration stage,” he said.
It is known that the price adjustment for LCGC which includes Daihatsu Ayla, Daihatsu Sigra, Toyota Agya, Toyota Calya and Honda Brio Satya is input from a number of parties, including manufacturers. The plan refers to the increase in the price of car production materials, including LCGC.
LCGC itself is a government program that has been rolling since 10 years ago. Manufacturers can participate in this program by complying with a number of conditions, ranging from specifications, production to compliance with adjusted pricing within a certain period.
