The promulgation of the Private Secondary Schools (Amendment) Regulations 2021 was endorsed by the Council of Ministers, meeting on Friday morning, under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister, Pravind Jugnauth. This promulgation is explained by the closure of schools on March 19 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Through this promulgation, the third quarter of last year has been postponed and it will end on March 26, 2021 instead of October / November. Private Secondary Education regulations had to be aligned so that students who will turn 20 on December 31, 2020, can complete their education. Other regulations will be amended so that students who have not reached the age of 19 on June 1 are admitted to Grade 12.
