The Edmonton Eskimos announced on Sunday that they had released wide receiver Christion Jones after he posted homophobic comments on Twitter the day before.
As part of International Pride Day, Jones had made homophobic comments on his Twitter account before defending himself from having the right to his opinion in dozens of interactions.
In a series of tweets now deleted, it was possible to read the following comments:
“I’m going to keep it true…. A man is not supposed to be with a man. A woman is not supposed to be with another woman. IT’S ONLY ME! Live your life with caution. “
In front of the words of their player, the Eskimos wanted to break their ties with him.
“We stand with the LGBTQ2 + community and strongly condemn the language used by Christion Jones. There is no room for this kind of comment within our team. Jones has been released from our workforce, “read the Alberta team’s press release.

During his one-season stint in Edmonton ,. Jones had 825 yards on 40 kickoff returns in 10 games last season. From 2017 to 2019, he wore the colors of the Saskatchewan Roughriders.
