Lavrov at the OSCE meeting: the foreign ministers of the Baltic countries refused to participate

“Lavrov’s participation risks legitimizing aggressor Russia as a legitimate member of our community of free nations… We, the ministers of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, will not participate in this and will not share responsibility for the consequences it will cause,” the officials noted.

Also, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna, during his speech today at the meeting of NATO foreign ministers, personally criticized the decision to allow Lavrov to the meeting.

“Lavrov’s presence downplays the significance of the brutal crimes that Russia continues to commit. Lavrov’s place is in a special tribunal, and not at the OSCE table,” he emphasized.

It is worth noting that last year, when the OSCE was headed by Poland, it refused to allow Lavrov to participate in a meeting of the foreign ministers of the organization’s member countries.

What preceded

Let us remind you that earlier it became known that Bulgaria will open its airspace to the plane of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov. This is necessary for him to attend the OSCE meeting, which will be held in Skopje (North Macedonia).

Already today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine responded to the decision to allow Lavrov to the OSCE meeting. They emphasized that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba will not take part.
