Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu held a press conference in Elazig with Health Minister Fahrettin Koca and Environment and Urbanization Minister Murat Kurum. Soylu stated that there are no people under the dent in the regions facing earthquake in Malatya, “5 people in Malatya and 10 people in Elazig have lost their lives until now. There is no one under the dent in Malatya, 30 people are wanted in Elazig. ”
Soylu used the following expressions in the continuation of his statement:
* Currently, the search and rescue efforts of 30 citizens are continuing in Elazig. 405 of our citizens in Elazig applied to hospitals with injuries or were brought to the hospital by our health teams.
* In Malatya, 148 citizens were sent to hospitals. We have 3 seriously injured people in Malatya, and 2 seriously injured people in Elazig. We have 5 seriously injured people.
* After 20.55 hours when the incident was heard, we presented our President with an earthquake of magnitude 6.8 after one minute. From this minute, we informed him at short intervals.
* I would like to express this to our valued citizens. We have very painful experiences in the past and we lived together as this nation. The most recent earthquake in 1999 in Istanbul; Including Yalova earthquake.

The Minister of Health, who came across the cameras after Soylu, Fahrettin Koca said:
* 11 citizens lost their lives in Elazig. 2 people in 8 Sivrice and 1 person in Gezin lost their lives in the center. In addition, 2 people had a heart attack.
* In other words, a total of 13 citizens lost their lives. 5 people lost their lives in Malatya.
* Our injured number is 405 in Elazig. 35 of these patients are hospitalized and their treatment continues.

The Minister of Environment and Urbanization shared the following information about the earthquake with Murat Kurum:

AFAD: An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 occurred at 20.55 on January 24, 2020 in Sivrice district of Elazig province. After the earthquake, 10 earthquakes with 4 magnitudes occurred in the region and the total number of aftershocks is 118.
14 citizens in Elazig, 4 in Malatya, 1 in Diyarbakir, and 19 citizens in total lost their lives. The number of citizens applying to the hospital is 782.
