Language and Mathematics Practices in the ‘Books to Learn’ Program: A Focus on Educational Portfolio Development and Teaching Strategies

The educational portfolio developed in EPP No. 38, in Río Gallegos, a last instance of work in order to address different approaches to language and mathematics practices, within the framework of the “Books to Learn” Program. On this occasion, the Provincial Director of Primary Education, Olga Rizzi, pointed out that the Language specialists Sandra Storino and Mathematics specialists, Eugenia Arce, accompanied by the representative of the National Directorate Noelia Forestiere, held the last meeting whose purpose was to work with the driving teams of the primary schools of the capital city.

At the same time, he emphasized the importance of this public policy that allows each of the primary education students to be provided with reading materials, guaranteeing that each one has a tool to work in the classrooms and that, in turn, , organizes the work in terms of teachers’ planning.

For her part, the member of the Mathematics technical team of the National Directorate of Primary Education, Eugenia Arce, indicated that a training was carried out linked to territorial support for the delivery of books that has been carried out since last year throughout the country. In the case of Santa Cruz, they were developing support with school supervisors and, in 2023, they joined the management teams.

“The idea is to accompany with strategies that seek to improve teaching and provide tools to take advantage of the potential of the books that were given to each student so that the teaching of Language and Mathematics can be intensified and improved,” he added. Likewise, Sandra Storino presented a collection of guidelines for teachers and another collection of Literature Stories that will be delivered to all boys and girls throughout the country.

The trainer valued the commitment to teaching of the teams of directors, who have put into practice some of the strategies addressed during the first meeting and highlighted the progress that is reflected in the different actions carried out in the schools.

Finally, Eugenia Arce expanded that she is working with virtual meetings so that all teachers in Santa Cruz and the country can access them, so that they can incorporate some teaching practices into the classrooms, to improve the learning of boys and girls.

Next Wednesday this same activity will be carried out in the form of a workshop with the participation of the primary schools of Cañadón Seco and Caleta Olivia, in EPP N°74, of the latter town.
