Next Saturday, Trøndelag Labor Party will elect a new county leader. The Nomination Committee has unanimously nominated Trond Giske, according to NTB’s experience.
– It is astonishing and sad if this is a unanimous recommendation from the nomination committee and no place has been found for one of the many female talents in Trøndelag at the top. Had expected a shared attitude that could at least reflect the membership in a better way, says leader Tine Christin Eikevik of Trondhein Arbeidersamfunn to NTB.
She is the leader of Trondheim Arbeidersamfunn, which is a local team in Trondheim Ap and the largest local team in Trøndelag.
When asked what Eikevik thinks about having Giske as leader given his prehistory, she answers: – No comment on that.
In March, 20 Labor women, including Eikevik, sent input to the nomination committee demanding that a woman be nominated as county leader.
– We want a woman because Aps county mayor and group leader are men, and it is time to bring in a woman. There are many good women in Trøndelag who can fill the role of county leader very well, Eikevik said to TV 2.
Giske was forced to resign as deputy leader of the Labor Party in January 2018 after warnings of sexual harassment and inappropriate behavior.
