“La Liga games in the United States? We will do it”

La Liga have announced and presented an official deal with ESPN which will cover the First and Second Divisions for 8 years in the United States and Canada.

After 10 years of collaboration with beIN Sports, La Liga has changed sides in the North American market and signed a new contract with ESPN which will become for 8 years the exclusive broadcaster of La Liga across the Atlantic. Over 380 games will be available live via ESPN + and the Disney platform.

During his presentation, Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, once again expressed his wish to export matches of the Spanish league. He was asked if a Clasico could be contested in the USA. “It’s complicated to play a Clasico in the United States because it is the most important game between two clubs in the world, but yes, this agreement increases the possibilities of seeing another La Liga game there”, Tebas replied.

“We are working on it and I hope it will materialize as soon as possible because the United States deserves an official La Liga game with one of our big clubs. One year Barça, and other years Real Madrid or Atletico de Madrid or others. But we will do it. We will try and we will get there, our fans in the USA deserve it, “he explained.
