Kristian Valen, Bernt Heiberg | Kristian Valen indicted in extensive weapons case

Comedian Kristian Valen was scheduled to appear in the Oslo district court next Tuesday, charged with unlawful possession of two weapons.

In this trial, he was also accused of a drug offense when the police found tablets that are supposed to contain narcotic substances.

That trial has been postponed. The information is confirmed by the Oslo District Court.

Police: These are the illegal weapons

“The defense has requested an adjournment and the prosecution has not objected to this. The district court has therefore decided that the case should be postponed due to the fact that the indictment has been extended and that there is also a need for several days for the main hearing”writes the district court in an email to Nettavisen.

The case has not yet been rescheduled and the reason for the postponement is that the police have issued an additional charge against Valen. They therefore accuse him of extensive new weapons offences. The police accuse Valen of possessing the following illegal weapons:

  • a Heckler & Koch G3 assault rifle.
  • a semi-automatic rifle make Colt model AR-15 A2.
  • a semi-automatic rifle caliber 223 make Remington model AR-15.
  • a pistol made by SIG Sauer model P226.
  • a pistol of the make Glock model 17.
  • the subframes (lock cases) of a rifle made by Saber Defense Industries model XR15.
  • a rifle made by Colt model AR-15 A2 semi-automatic rifle.
  • a rifle made by Saber Defense Industries model M16A2.
  • a rifle of the make Colt model M-16A1.
  • a rifle made by Saber Defense Industries model XM 15.
  • a rifle of the make Decade model MG 4A5.
  • as well as the frame piece for a pistol made by SIG Sauer model SP2022.

Valen denies criminal guilt for all the charges in both indictments.

The police believe the offense is serious because of the large number of weapons and that they believe they are particularly dangerous or harmful to society.

Defendant: – They are film props

The police believe that Valen had the weapons without permission because they are not registered as deactivated in the National Weapons Register and are not deactivated in accordance with the regulations. Put simply, the police believe the weapons are not sealed in accordance with current regulations. This causes Valen’s defender, the shooting star at Elden Advokatfirma, Bernt Heiberg to react.

– The police obviously believe that it is a criminal offense for Valen to possess film props such as the police and reputable sellers of sealed weapons self has sealed. But the police now believe that they are not properly sealed after all. Why the new police prosecutor thinks this is completely incomprehensible to me, says Heiberg to Nettavisen.

Police attorney Andreas Meeg-Bentzen is the new police attorney on the case. He does not want to comment because he is on vacation.

The previous police attorney on the case was Christine Solberg. She was familiar with the report on sealing that is in the case, but did not press charges against Valen for this weapons relationship.

– It is very unfortunate that the trial has to be postponed with the new charges. But that means an extensive presentation of evidence on Valen’s part. Films and skits will be shown where the weapons in question have been used, says Heiberg clearly stated.

It has not been successful for Nettavisen to make contact with Valen.

– We received an extended indictment on Wednesday this week, which meant that it was not possible to carry out the trial as planned.

– Unnecessary prosecution

In 2017, Valen was sentenced to a 21-day suspended prison sentence in the Borgarting Court of Appeal for threatening police officers on Facebook. He thus avoided serving a prison sentence as he was sentenced in the Oslo district court in the same case.

It was originally planned for two days in court for the case against Valen. With the new evidence with the films and skits, there will probably be four court days.

– In our view, the new indictment is unnecessary. There is no new information in the case, only a new assessment has been made by the new police prosecutor, says Heiberg.

According to the police, what they believe to be illegal weapons have been found in Valen’s home in exclusive Aker Brygge in February 2020. The other weapons he is accused of illegally storing were found the same day.

Those weapons are an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle caliber 223 Remington. In addition, he is accused of having stored a telescopic baton and a long stick baton illegally, or as it is formally called “without a valid purpose”.

In addition, the police believe he has kept a bulletproof vest illegally. It was marked “POLITI” and the national coat of arms.
